Modern Character Villa Addition

Modern Character Villa Addition

One of our recent projects has been a collaboration with another designer, which involved an extensive addition to a historic character style villa in Epsom, Auckland.  The owners wanted to renovate the existing 3 bedroom villa to accommodate 2 families with one having the upper level and the other the lower level. Raupo Cafe

Raupo Cafe Blenheim, New Zealand An Iconic Marlborough Restaurant Nestled on the banks of the Taylor River which meanders around the central business district of Blenheim, Raupo Cafe sits majestically at the gateway to Blenheim on the historic spot where James Wynen opened the first store in Blenheim in the 1850's also called Raupo. This has been one of our favourite projects as it quickly established itself as an iconic local landmark and destination.   From the large rough sawn timbers to the riverstone feature walls and the free form timber stairs, this space exudes a welcoming quality and a sense of belonging. collage Looking…

Faced with a complete rebuild, Tony Fitzpatrick took the opportunity to redesign the restaurant with inspiration from the traditional Japanese houses in the mountain village in Japan where he spent some time previously.  Using large wooden beams and plaster finish infill walls this restaurant has captured the essence of the traditional Japanese style architecture in a modern setting. With its wide timber verandah and Japanese inspired garden this truly is a little piece of Japan in Marlborough, which…
