An Iconic Marlborough Restaurant
Nestled on the banks of the Taylor River which meanders around the central business district of Blenheim, Raupo Cafe sits majestically at the gateway to Blenheim on the historic spot where James Wynen opened the first store in Blenheim in the 1850’s also called Raupo.
Working with a challenging triangular site this sustainably designed building is constructed from locally sourced timbers and stonework, carefully put together by local artisans and tradesmen.
This has been one of our favourite projects as it quickly established itself as an iconic local landmark and destination. From the large rough sawn timbers to the riverstone feature walls and the free form timber stairs, this space exudes a welcoming quality and a sense of belonging.
